What is your name? Brandy

What is your role at OSC? RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) but I do a little bit of everything to help the patient-care flow: Medical Records, Disability, FMLA (family leave act). I’ve been with OSC for 7 years

Describe your journey in the healthcare field? Why did you choose to work in Oncology? I have worked as a medical assistant (MA) for a long time having worked in OB/GYN and family practices. With oncology, I was initially intimidated by the complexity, all of the medications, diseases, and treatments. I started in an admin role and then I helped on the clinical side alongside D. Favaro as his MA.

Do you have a specific cancer or blood disease that you feel a personal connection to or that strikes you as an interesting path of care? All cancer types are interesting. I am excited to see how people’s lives are extended

What can you share about OSC that that sets us apart from other medical groups? The personalization of how we view patients as family and friends. Our providers have more one-on-one relationships with pts. Pts are never a number here, not a chart number. Being the only private oncology practice in the area gives us an edge to providing quality care with a pt focus foremost

If you were to go to medical school and become a doctor, what type of medical doctor would you be? Probably an OB/GYN physician. I loved when I worked in women’s health in my past roles

What are your hobbies and interests? Traveling is my favorite, especially with my husband and 3 boys. At home, we play music, act silly and have fun, but sometimes my kids say I’m getting on their nerves! I really enjoy my puppy, Chapo, he’s my newest child. And yes, he’s a boy too. I’m quite outnumbered in the household!

What is in your Netflix queue?
I really don’t watch much TV. When I do, I like the crime shows, such as 48 hours. I like to see how the crimes are solved

Ice Cream time: Vanilla or Chocolate? Vanilla

If you could go to lunch with someone famous, who would that be? DMX, he is a rapper and performer. He recently passed away. I admire that he prayed before every performance
