What is your name?
Valentina, FNP-C
What is your role at OSC?
Nurse Practitioner with Dr. Shehadeh, but I do fill-in with the other oncologists and meet with patients for chemo teaches.
What is your background? And your path working in healthcare?
I was born in the country Moldova in the city Tiraspol. My parents are Ukrainian. We moved to the states when I was age 11. First we lived in Georgia briefly, then we moved to Charlotte where a lot of my mom’s family lived. We have a big family on both sides; my mom is 1 of 9 and my dad 1 of 7.
After I graduated from Butler High School, I attended UNCC and Queens University for my nursing degree. Then I went to ECU for my bachelors in nursing, BSN followed with a masters in nursing from South University in Savannah, GA. All this while I was having children along with my husband who is also a nurse and works in the ICU.
While at Novant Health oncology, I would frequently chat with our very own Dr. Nasfat Shehadeh. This is how I learned about Oncology Specialists of Charlotte, and I am thrilled to be working with Dr. Shehadeh again. He is a wonderful doctor and person.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work hours?
Spending time with my family, as I mentioned we have a large family. There are about 100 family members in Charlotte, and we seem to always have a weekend celebration of a birthday, bridal shower, wedding, or baby shower. I have 2 daughters aged 5 and 6. We go to church every Sunday and I sing in the choir, as do my daughters in the children's choir. I find singing very therapeutic!
What scent do you love to smell?
Clean sheets, smell and “feel”.
What is your favorite charity?
Samaritan’s Purse, for their Christian values and support of people in need. I read in the Bible about the good deeds of Samaritans; I want to live a good Samaritan’s life.
What was the last thing you were researching on the Internet?
Most certainly something related to work with a diagnosis or a medication list.
What is a travel destination you have in mind?
Would love to go to Disney World and experience this with our 2 daughters. We have never been. Also, Aruba. This summer my husband and I will celebrate our 10th Wedding Anniversary and we are looking at celebrating in Aruba, fingers crossed.
If you could go to lunch with someone famous, who would that be?
Definitely Joanna Gaines who claimed fame from the HGTV show with her husband Chip. But the amazing accomplishments she has made are incredibly admirable- mother of 5, great cook, businesswoman, and a book out. I would ask her how she keeps her life going with all of her activity.
